Shortly before his official hearing in the Senate Finance Committee on March 14, 2025, Medicare advocates hosted a “shadow hearing” for Dr. Mehmet Oz, who had been nominated by President Trump to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Physicians, health professionals, and patients shined a light on the Trump administration’s plans to hand Medicare over to corporate insurers like UnitedHealthcare. Dr. Oz has been a longtime cheerleader for so-called “Advantage” plans, which are run by for-profit insurers and frequently delay or deny care for seniors. He cannot be trusted with our Medicare and Medicaid!
